Just throwing it out there...

Hi again everyone :)

Hope everyone had an excellent (and frightening) Halloween. Mine consisted of an hour long walk to Blockbuster, fajitas and The Exorcist. Pretty good!
I ended up not getting any sleep though, not due to the fact I was scared. I just couldn't! Which wasn't good AT ALL as I had to look after my best friends 2 year old son ALLLLLLLLLL day Sunday.

But somehow I made it, and I'm here writing this now!

I finally have a job! And I'm not even going to mention where as I'd like to keep a shred of dignity... but lets just say it's not very glamourous, and it doesn't pay huge amounts either (only £4 an hour, but only 'till February) . But it's definitely better than having no money!

So that means I'm finally going to be able to get my MAC foundation that I've been wanting for about 3 months.... I've managed to get about 3 samples of the exact colour I want and I've only got the tiniest amount left! I'm also planning on getting the GOSH foundation primer because I put some on the back of my hand in Superdrug the other day and it felt amazing! Really silky, and moisturied!

I have had a bit of a spending spree with my EMA over the past week or two, but not for myself! I've been going crazy on eBay bidding on loads of different make-up items for my sisters Christmas present. At one point I was bidding on 20 things... I got slightly addicted I think! :)
The sad thing is, because of the postal strike I've only received 2 of the 19 things I've actually bought so far! :(

Wanna know what I bought? Huh?
I'm just gonna list them anyway because it's 4am and I'm bored.. here goes!

  • Hard Candy Single Eyeshadow - Buttered Popcorn
  • Hard Candy Loner Duo Eyeshadow - Firefly
  • *Too Faced Frozen Lotion*
  • Hard Candy Single Eyeshadow - Peppermint Party
  • Too Faced Lockdown Cream Shadow - Bondage
  • Pout Eyeshadow Duo Compact - Miss Denmark
  • Max Factor Mascara - Cobalt Blue
  • TIGI Blush - Sorbet
  • TIGI Eyeshadow - Java
  • Urban Decay Lip Gunk - Biker
  • Pout Lipliner - 36B
  • Bourjois Shadow and Contour Compact - Miss Spirit
  • NYC Pencil & Pout Lipliner and Lipgloss - Duet
  • Too Faced Eyeshadow Duo - Full Frontal
  • Ruby & Millie Stackable Eyeshadows - Blue & Green
  • Hard Candy Single Eyeshadow - Taffy
  • Urban Decay Lipgloss - Pinacolada
  • Urban Decay Sniper Potion - Blemish thingy....
  • And 2 pairs of false eyelashes.

I think I might keep some of it... depends on how generous I feel nearer to Christmas.

I'm Back!

Hello Everyone!

So it's been a really... REALLY long time since I've posted anything to my blog. I'm sorry! But I've been pretty stacked the past few months with moving house and starting college I haven't really had the time to post. Not that anyone reads this anyway!

I would really love to have some more subscribers, but I know I'll have to start talking about something interesting first...

Right! So here's a quick update on what's been happening in my life lately:

  • I moved house in July, into Norwich! So it's so much easier and cheaper for me to get to college and to see my Dad, Step-Mum and Brother!
  • I started college in September, I was studying a Music BTEC First Diploma and Beauty Therapy NVQ Lvl 2 part time. I did both of the courses for about 3 weeks until someone on the music course changed the timetable! So the music course didn't finish until 5.30 and I had to be in the salon for beauty therapy at 3! So sadly I had to give the music course up. :(
  • My sisters moved to Huddersfield to study Transport Design at Uni and I'm missing her a helluva lot :( She's been back once for the weekend and is down for 2 weeks at Christmas so I'm quite excited about that!
On the make-up/beauty front I haven't really been doing that much lately. Obviously I've been learning professional beauty treatments on my course, but I haven't really been experimenting with make-up looks etc. Also, I'm not allowed to wear nail varnish for college! So I no longer have yellow nail plates, which is a slight bonus although I miss not wearing polish every day. One of the requirements of the course is that you have to wear a full face of make-up each day, so it's just a bonus that I only have one 9am start a week!

I have dyed my hair purple, I did it about a week and a half ago... and it's almost faded out already! I'm not impressed about it but I do wash my hair every day and I haven't been using a colour protecting shampoo/conditioner. But I'm really not too sure that it suits me, so I might be dyeing it a nice chocolate brown for the winter soon!

One of the perks of doing a beauty course is that your basically a guinea pig for all the treatments that you have to learn, which is good for things like; facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing.... Yeah waxing, if you look closely at my eyebrow in the picture you'll be able to see where one of the girls on my course gave me a bald patch. So now I'm colouring it in! But it's all learning I suppose!

So now I'm back at college I'm claiming EMA each week, which actually means I have some money. Which then means that I can spend money on stuff!

Anyway, I've totally ranted for way too long.
Hope everyones all good!

Bye!

10 Fave Products

Here are my top ten beauty products! They're not all to do with makeup, there's some hair and body stuff in there too!

1. Riemann P20 Once A Day Sunscreen SPF 20 £9.35/100ml - this stuff is AMAZING! It's a sun protection product, but one application lasts for up to 10 hours!?! It has a slightly odd consistency. It's a bit like a oil/gel and it is absorbed on impact with your skin. I started off using this on my arms and back just to test if it actually worked, and I was amazed. I applied it in the morning, waitied 15 mins for it to become active and then stayed outside all day. I didn't burn at all. So now I use it on my face underneath my foundation every day. UVA & UVB rays are so dangerous, and I feel confident when I wear this that my face is totally protected. The only downside is that it's slightly greasy, so I just apply a little blotting powder before applying my foundation on top and it works perfectly!

2.Straightening Cream - I have absolutely no idea what brand this is... it might be something really expensive or something worth 10p, all I know is it works! I used to be on a testing panel where I got sent different products to try out, one thing I was sent was the Neutrogena Wave. I had no idea what it was, bearing in mind this was 3 years ago and it's only just appeared on the shelves! So I was asked to test this straightening cream, you just work a pea sized amount through wet hair and then blowdry as normal. It really does help keep my hair straight. Thankfully they sent me 3 bottles of the stuff, and I've only just finished the first :) Yay!

3.Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic £11.00/200ml - Those of you who have read my previous blogs will know I'm a big fan of Liz Earle products, I love the fact that they are made from natural ingredients. And I love the way they smell! This tonic really does freshen up your skin, rejuvenates it! The smell wakes you up too!

4. Superdrug Skin Essentials Chamomile Cleanser £1.09/150ml - I use this product to take off my makeup, and it's really gentle. It only stings ever so slightly if it goes in my eyes, and it takes the makeup off really well. It smells fresh too and for the price you really can't go wrong!

5.Toni & Guy Iron It Heat Defence Spray £5.37/200ml- I use this every day, when I blowdry/straighten/curl my hair. Literally whenever I expose it to excess heat. I like the fact that it's a misty spray so it doesn't leave my hair soaking wet like some others do, I feel like it really protects my hair, but doesn't leave it feeling any heavier than usual!

6.Revlon Age Defying Makeup £12.22/36.9ml - I know, I'm 17 I don't need foundation with age defiance. But this is just a perfect match to my skin colour and I really love the texture! It applies beautifully and doesn't appear cakey halfway through the day. It's slightly more expensive than some other drug store brands, but I love it!

7.Nivea Soft Intensive Moisturising Cream £4.59/200ml - I only use this on my hands, elbows and knees. It's an excellent moisturiser for those really rough parts. I have used it on my face in the past, but it's just too thick and makes me all blotchy and spotty. EWWW. So I just use this on any bad patches of dry skin on my body now. The big pots really last a long time so they are definitely worth the money.

8.Barry M Nail Paint 273 Raspberry £2.95/10ml - I LOVE this colour. It's a permanent fixture on my toes, I find that some of Barry M's nail varnish is very thick and a little hard to control this one is spot on! It goes on really well, and builds up to a great opaque finish in just 2 coats. It's the easiest to apply and the easiest to remove in my eyes!

9.Water! - Water really does make a difference to your body. The amount you drink...and how frequently you wash. I drink 3 litres of 'water' a day, mostly mixed with a no added sugar squash. I pee alot, but I feel really refreshed and energized after a good ol' glug of drink. It makes a difference to your skin by helping to flush out the impurities in your body. If you suffer from headaches the most likely cause will be dehydration, hardly ANYONE drinks enough water everyday. Tsk!

10.Mac Pro Pigment in Chartreuse £2.75/Quarter tsp - Green is my absolute favourite colour... and I think this pigment is amazing. It was one of the first pigments I ever tried from Mac. I'd just like to add that I have never ever bought a full size pigment, but as soon as I have the money I'll be hunting out a full size in this. It's just gorgeous. I get my pigment samples from Love-Makeup.

Right now for a couple of products that I cannot stand....

1.Urban Decay Lube In A Tube NYC - This smells rank. End of.

2.Asda Sensitive Daily Moisture Cream - Sticky, leaves a weird layer on the skins surface, doesn't actually moisturise anything at all?

3.Virgin Vie Stay Calm Eye Makeup Remover - Since when did 'remover' mean 'push around your face for ages and then maybe pick up a little bit.' Rubbish. Made my eyes SO sore

Thats it! So I hope you've enjoyed reading this, let me know your top ten!

Hope your all having a great day.

No Sleep - 2 hairstyles...

No sleep makes Scarlett a bored girl.

I actually went to bed at 2.30am
Couldn't sleep, got up at 4.30am, watched like 4 Tiffany D videos on Youtube, did my makeup (why?!) And decided to take some photos.

Hello dodgy bed plait. This is only one side of my hair, so you can tell how thick it is :|
The makeup looks boring on this pic, but it looks better in real life. But i've been up for over 24 hours, what do I know?
So by now it was about 5.30ish and I decided that I'd curl my hair. Yay

7.05am
My hair is curled.
Sad thing is, by the time I took this picture the curls underneath had pretty much dropped out... even with a ton of hairspray!

I look really scared in both photos :| This one shows up the eye makeup a little better, it's supposed to be a smokey eye... yeah.

Now I'm just gonna throw this picture in because it's plain funny. I'd just like to point out that I don't do drugs...

Woooooah.
Well I hope everyone else got lots of beauty sleep! I'm gonna need a lot more than that!

FOTD

I'm bored. So I decided/was told to to a FOTD. I'd just like to point out I had no idea what that meant until about an hour ago... Cheers Alex!
Check her out. She's alright I guess.
So. I decided to use some of my Ruby & Millie set. I got this ages ago, I think it was £50 from Boots, sometime near christmas '08.
If anyone has it, I used the silvery/grey eyeshadow all over the lid but I really packed it on the lower half and outer corners. Then right in the outer corner I used some Mac Bell Bottom pigment. :)
Then some Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara (which I poked myself in the eye with earlier. OW) and some Quick Frost as a highlight.
I used the blush and highlight from the Ruby&Millie set. But I have really red cheeks anyway, so it's barely noticeable!
I look really mean in the picture, but I'm not mean. Honest!
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Daisy Sticker Collection

A piece of advice for ladies out there, If you have an expensive perfume and you keep it in it's box. Never, ever ask a man to pack it. I mean pack as in, in a bag to go on holiday; or to move house.

I've recently moved from my own flat back in with my mum... living on your own isn't all it's cracked up to be. Especially when your 17 and you work at B&Q.
So yeah... I used to work at B&Q, orange apron and all.
Trust me it's the epitome of glamour.
My dad owned the flat I rented so he would just let himself in while I was out and then complain to me about the mess constantly!
Anyway.. back to the story.
So I was packing up my makeup and stuff, and I have this old roses tin where I keep all of my hairsprays and heat protectors etc. Just hair bits, So I just popped it in one of those hessian shopping bag things with the rest of my beauty stuff and trundled off back to my mums.
And after sifting through bag and opening the tin I find my Marc Jacobs sticker collection perfume, in the box. BATTERED :( All of the corners are fraying... and it just looks a bit sad. Not like it cost me £42.50.

As you'll see from the picture of the box.. it doesn't look that bad at all. Only a little bit of scuffing on the bottom corners, but it's a lot worse in real life! Because the box it's glossy, it looks all scratched.
Boo hoo!

I would never have put this in there. To be honest I don't wear it that often, It was the first thing I ever bought with my own wages. So it's really special to me! :(
My theory is, my dad went into my flat and popped everything from the top of my blanket box into the roses tin.
Silly.

I'm trying not to worry about it too much, when I get another job I shall buy another one! :) I think I might even get just the normal Daisy. It's lovely!

What's everyones favorite perfume?
I wish I had 100 followers, I'd do a competition or something. Or just sit and bask in my own popularity.
Nah. Definatley competition.

I am actually going to shut up now! And go to bed. My sister woke me up at 7am, she'd come back from Latitude for a bath and something to eat because she got wet... hmm. Then she calls me at 3pm and plays Chairlift down the phone.
Cow.

Some good - Some bad. Beautyrocket order update.

Hello!

I'd just like to apologise for being such a whinge bag yesterday... But I'm in a better mood today.
My beautyrocket parcel arrived this morning, even though I had to got and collect it from the Post Office and pay £1! I had to go up to the new house this morning to check the carpets we're going in OK... so I took my parcel with me on the bus and opened it up.

I wasn't hugely impressed to be honest, even though they had all been packed up carefully and nothing was damaged in the post. The first thing I opened was the Rimmel lipstick, and it was obvious that someone had looked at it and not wound it down before putting the lid on, so half of the stick is stuck to the inside of the lid! It is still useable though, I'll just have to find my lip brush...

The next thing I looked at was the Constance Carrol cheek tint/bronzer doodad, it's just in a little tube, like a Juicy Tubes lip gloss, and it was all intact. I tried to get some product out to swatch it on my hand... but it was all dry. So loads shot out into my hand, and my mum leaned over and told me that It looked like a piece of mouse crap... pleasant.

All of the eyeliners and eyebrow pencils I ordered are excellent, especially the Bourjois Khol Contour one. It's a really deep foresty green, and I've tried to swatch it and take some pictures.. but it just shows up as black :(

I was really unhappy with the nail varnish, I've just put SEVEN coats of the Maybelline Express Finish onto my nails and it's just opaque. The other one isn't even useable as all of the bristles are stuck together. I've tried soaking them, but nope! So I'm really not pleased about that. I've had some of the Maybelline before, in another colour and I can remember it being watery.. but this was just literally blue water. Maybe they water them down or something? I don't know?!

The Go Eye Dusts are great! They are just cheaper versions of Barry M Dazzle Dust, and the Laval Starry Eyes is good too; although I have no idea why I bought it in BRIGHT GREEN!?! The tweezers are fine, as are the makeup sponges.

Anyway, although some of the stuff is a bit poop I can't really complain as I only paid over 50p for a few things. The rest we're 30-40p. So you can't really expect too much for that money. If your going to order from the website, I'd just suggest that you don't expect too much, I wouldn't order anything apart from liners and tweezers/pads etc in the future.

Now onto something else I got today! I had a really good exfoliation session last night and used up my last bit of Ted Baker body scrub :( It smelt so yummy so I was a little bit sad. That was until I found this in John Lewis this afternoon.....

I cant even tell you how good it smells..........
umi Walnut & Cinnamon Body Scrub
for invigorated skin.

'umi - an infusion of ingredients to indulge the body and ease your mind'

'Walnut & Cinnamon body scrub for invigorated skin. Grains of walnut shell gently exfoliate, while cinnamon is said to warm and stimulate skin'

I haven't even used any yet, and I'm already in love with it! I was looking at some Bliss 'Body Buff' which was £27.40.. ever so slightly out of my price range at the moment.
So then my mum pointed out this one, which was only £4.85 for 350ml. I instantly thought it would be ming, I'm not a fan of cinnamon at all. It reminds me of those horrid Christmas air fresheners. But as soon as I smelt it I had to have it! It's cinnamony and walnutty at the same time, which is a gorgeous combo! It's also in a kilner jar, I have a kilner jar obsession. They're great for storing bits and bobs, like cotton pads and buds on your desk! I've got 4 jars waiting for me, so I can put them in my new bedroom. They were only £1 each from Asda, and I think they're 1 litre, you can get larger ones (2litre?) for £2.

They're great for using in the kitchen too, my sister actually made pear drop sambuca in a kilner jar :)

This is what it looks like inside, it's obviously a grainy texture but it's really jelly-like. It wobbles about in the pot... hah!

I really can't wait to use it, but I'm too tired to have a bath tonight so it'll have to wait until the morning. I wish I could have a shower and use it now, but I can't even stand up straight in the shower.... :(

I'm really getting in to this whole blogging thing... even if no-one's reading it! It's nice to have somewhere to write my inane and insane thoughts down.

I'm happy tonight!

Even if my eyebrows are slowly taking over my face.... That's what I bought 2 pairs of tweezers for!

Thanks for reading. If anyone is actually reading this!?!

Bye!

Thunder & Lightning

I have come to the conclusion, that bad weather just takes the mick.
I was just settling in to another excellent episode of Bones, and recording Americas Hardest Prisons at the same time. Then the satellite signal totally disappears. :( Boo!
I hadn't even gotten a chance to ogle Seeley. Really not fair.
So now I'm totally bored and have no-one to talk to... poor me.
Hopefully the storm'll pass in a little bit and I'll be able to catch the end of Bones... HOPEFULLY!
How's everyone elses evening going?
Bye!

Not Impressed...

So, I ordered some stuff from beautyrocket and I got an email yesterday saying it had been dispatched.
Yipee.
I went to bed last night, and just could NOT sleep. I finally managed to drop off at like 6am. So I wake up around 10.30 : Only to find that I totally slept through the post man ringing the doorbell at 7.45.
:'(
I'm so sad. I called the distribution centre and they said that they will deliver it again tomorrow morning, but I'm going to my new house tomorrow to watch over the carpet fitter... so I won't even be able to play with all the things when they arrive :(
I'm also having real trouble with foundation this week, it's just not doing what I want it to do in terms of coverage. But at the moment I'm too skint to get anymore! And my highlights are growing out on my hair... so I look ever so slightly ming at the moment with dodgy foundation and straggly highlights... Yum.
I hope everyone else is having a better week! :)

Bargains!

Ahhh!
So I've been feeling a little low due to lack of makeup lately. I mean, the last time I got some nice eyeshadows was when I bought 13 Mac pigments in March... not good.
So I've been scouring the internet for hours trying to find makeup that matches my budget, and I managed to find beautyrocket.co.uk.
I've just spent £12.27.. Here's what I got!
  • A brown eyebrow pencil
  • 3 pots of 'Go' dust. So I assume it's an extremely cheap version of Barry M Dazzle Dust?
  • 2 pairs of tweezers (one for false eyelashes, one for eyebrows+splinters!)
  • Green khol eyeliner
  • Black khol eyeliner
  • Brown khol eyeliner
  • Really pale pink/taupey/brown-ish lippy
  • Creamy/White eyeshadow for highlight
  • Baby blue nail varnish
  • Chocolate nail varnish
  • 4 blending sponges
  • Another dazzle dust con thing..
  • Bronzing cheek cream. Basically a cream blush

It all came to £12.27 with postage! I can't believe it, well actually I can. I'm a forward thinker see... and I know as soon as the package arrives I'll open it up and they've poured every separate product into a little pot and mixed it all together for me...

Well thats the worst case scenario, I think that the products will be useable, just look extremely cheap. Which is good, because my idol is Dolly Parton.

I have actually heard of Go, it's a bit like W7 I think. So pretty cheap, but workable in the right context. If you don't expect too much of them then they can't dissappoint! The blush is Constance Carrol.. I have no idea who that is. But I don't actually own a bronzer and it was 35p.

One of the liners is Bourjois, but the lids cracked. So thats why it's cheap. All the nail varnishes are Maybelline Express Finish and the lipstick is Rimmel. I'll just make sure and smell everything and test them on my hand before putting them anywhere near my face. I really don't want to be putting some out of date ming on my face.

As you can see I'm an optimist, so I'll let you know if they arrive safely, and what they are actually like.

It's funny you know, I've written about 8 blogs today and no-ones reading them! I'm happy talking to myself.

Bye!

Liz Earle Love! And some others...

You would've thought that spending all her time on the Isle of Wight making natural skin care products that Liz Earle might be a bit nutty. Well, she's a genius and anyone who has used, or even smelt her Instant Boost Skin Tonic will already know this!

It smells like...freshness. Well, roses and cucumber, but it really does smell so delicious. Now, I only have the bottle at the moment, but hopefully I'll be getting the spritzer soon. You can pop that one in the fridge and when it's mega, sticky hot it's so nice to spray on your face and decollete. It's really cooling!

As for it's skin benefits, it contains organic Aloe Vera juice along with some cucumber extract and chamomile so it's extremely soothing and vitamin E to help protect the skin. I just can't get enough of the stuff! All you've got to do is basically use it like any other toner. So use your makeup remover, cleanser and then the tonic. Just load up a cotton pad and sweep it across your face and you will instantly feel it cooling and soothing your skin!

Another amazing Liz Earle product is the Cleanse & Polish, I haven't got a picture of this one as it's not with me at the moment! I'm suffering with withdrawal symptoms...

Anyway, Cleanse & Polish is literally a cleansing face wash, it comes in a pump bottle or a tube and it smells so luffly because of the rosemary and chamomile extracts! It's all natural but still has the ability to get rid of waterproof mascara gently as well as other makeup residue. When you purchase the larger bottles/pumps of Cleanse & Polish you are supplied with a couple of pure muslin clothes. These gently exfoliate the skin while you take off the cleanser.

I'm very much an advocate for cheap skincare, but it has to work. I'd rather spend £20 on something that's going to work, than £2.50 on something that's going to irritate my skin.
I really can't give both of these products enough praise, even though they are a little bit expensive... (Cleanse & Polish 100ml £11, Skin Tonic 200ml £11) They are definitely worth it! I've had Tonic since February and there's still a bit left, so it lasts pretty well too.

So if you've got an extra £22 hanging around somewhere... OK, none of us really have that at the moment, but they really are worth the investment even just for the smell!

Enough of the Liz Earle. Lets move onto something that I'm not so keen on.
We're moving house in a couple of weeks, and we nipped to Asda the other day to have a look at a kettle and get some milk or something... and I decided to try out the Asda Essential Care Sensitive skincare range. So I bought, a cleanser, what I thought was a toner but actually turned out to be just an eye makeup remover and a moisturiser.  Although my skin isn't REALLY sensitive I find that using heavier products e.g really thick moisturisers that my face gets a little bit angry.

They were really, REALLY cheap. The cleanser and eye makeup remover were £1.83 each, and the moisturiser was £2.23. I was quite excited about trying something different to be honest, I was stuck in the rut of Superdrug Chamomile makeup remover and cleanser, Nivea Young toner and Neutrogena Oil Free moisturiser.

When I first arrived home and had a look at the products I noticed that even though they are supposed to be un-scented, they actually had a no smell smell. Which I know makes no sense, it was almost chemical but not. Just as if someone had tried their hardest to make it not smell.... not nice. The moisturiser was especially bad for this.

The eye makeup remover did it's job well, it's the consistency of water (thus me thinking it was toner) So a little bit went quite a long way. The cleanser didn't really do that much, it wouldn't remove any left over makeup that I'd missed, just pushed it around on my face for a little while. But the worst of the bunch was definitely the moisturiser. I pop moisturiser into the palm of my hands and rub together slightly to distribute it before applying it to my face, and It was gone as soon as I touched my hands together. So I had to apply it to my face with just my fingers. It did nothing at all, just sat on my skin and created this horrible almost sticky layer, although eventually after about 2 Min's of strenuous rubbing I did manage to get it into some of my dry bits.

So overall I was a bit disappointed with my Asda purchase! Although their cotton pads with Aloe Vera are good?!

My Advice: Flock to the Isle of Wight to kiss Liz Earle, or just buy from her website... www.lizearle.com. Don't buy Asda Essential Care if your skin is even ever so slightly high maintenance, and go listen to Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should Have Come Over.
